I want to be a WWE Diva.....

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this before but I am a wrestling fan. I have been since I was a teenager. Back in the day I use to collect all the T-shirts and would do it now if I could afford it. The same goes with going to wrestling events which come here every blue moon. And usually when they do it is at the end of the month when I am broke. I think I have gone to two events in my lifetime, the last one was in 2006. The seats sucked but I was just happy to be there but I swore to myself if I ever go to another one, I have to have ringside to 3 rows back. I say that because I am only 5'3 and when people stand up I can't see. The ultimate dream would be to go to Wrestlemania which is like the Super Bowl of wrestling.

I never wanted to be a ballerina like most girls, I wanted to be a wrestler. When I was younger you didn't see many female wrestlers not like you do now. The ones I remember were The Fabulous Moolah (R.I.P.), Luna, and Sensational Sherry. I wanted to be them, I didn't see anything wrong with it considering that I was a tomboy anyway. Then along came Chyna who showed the world that a woman could fight against a male in wrestling and win their coveted Intercontinental Belt. Don't get me wrong, I have mad respect for the female wrestlers today which are now called Divas and rightly so. They are proving to the world that they are more than just some T & A (tits and ass) and they are doing more than just wrestling.

I may be a little long in the tooth being that I am thirty-nine years old and could use some exercise. But I know I have what it takes to be a WWE Diva. I have the attitude, drive, motivation, perserverance and looks. Everything that I see in all the divas I watch every week. It's a shame that HIV laid the smackdown on me and took away my dream.

Now Michelle....you knew this was coming.

Back in the 80s when wrestling was reaching it's apex, here came along G.L.O.W (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling). These ladies entertained thier largely male audience. The question was what were they marketing and what were the consumers expecting? The answer was obvious.... Sex, but more specifically the erotica of woman on woman wrestling/fighting. Unlike the man's sport (if you could classify it as a sport) where the market was the teenage pimple faced boys who stereotypically lived in trailors, and where the butt of jokes at school. (realize that real athletes never took to this as a spectator sport).......The ladies version was for the older post pubescent adult(male) who enjoyed watching the women in tights romping aroind and pulling at each others hair. This fad however didn't last long, and was quickly laid to rest. That was untill the admittedly genious (in marketing atleast) McMahon empire took even sexier, and less scantily clad women to do the same. It was an success, but for the same reason it was over a decade prior.

Now why you would consider them heroins is beyond me. They are more like well built bikini models. Your statement where they are "more than T & A" is completly wrong because it is exactly what they are. Sex is how they are marketed, and it brings in huge profits by the male dominated spectators. To further prove thier flaws, consider Chyna who currently is in rehab (on TV of course) has admitted a long list of regrets, and are now total wrecks...once the WWE has canceled thier contracts. These Divas deserve more pity for what thier future holds...or better yet does not hold...them to be esteemed as doing any good for a woman's image.

With this being said. I hope you strive to be more than an up and coming middle aged scantily clad sex object. Use your grey matter, it produces more success then both your T & A combined.

being that it is so late...please forgive the typos.

Just Me---

I do remember the G.L.O.W. ladies but never took them seriously. I guess we disagree on the divas. Yes, they may be scantily clad but what is wrong with being proud of your body? Some of the divas have gone on to acting gigs or like Trish Stratus retired to get married. Did you know she was in the medical field and gave it up to do wrestling?

Now about Chyna, I think she had problems before she even entered the WWE. I know she had a porno out with another wrestler, X- Pac, not sure if she married him or not. But even with her personal problems she accomplished something no other female could and that was winning the Men's Intercontinental belt. Not sure what made her leave the WWE.

And the times have changed, everyone is getting involved in wrestling or sports entertainment. Many celebs have been involved with it as I am sure you have noticed. And I agree there is an amount of sex appeal to it if you want to call it that. And yes, the women are scantily clad but have you looked at the men? It's not like they are all coming to the ring fully dressed to wrestle and sometimes they do. And the women do too, I might add. I can give you a list of wrestlers who come to the ring with just the wrestling briefs on and if you look, you can see the imprint of their manhood.

It is what it is which is sports entertainment. DO you consider the wrestling moves they do to be easy? Can you do a swanton(sp?)(Hardy Boys finishing move)from off the top rope? Can you easily get up from a Batista bomb(Batista's finishing move) or the Undertaker's finishing move of a Tombstone Piledriver?

And even with that some of the wrestlers move on to become involved in the business which includes using that grey matter you mentioned. Look at Vince McMahon, his father started the business when wrestling hardly even got a mention by anyone. Using his grey matter, he had has made it into the business you see today. And every year he risks his life and those of the wrestlers to go visit the troops in Iraq. I think he has made more trips there than our own President. He used his grey matter and has done wonders for the business. I don't see anything wrong with starting at the bottom and working your way up. Isn't that what business is all about?

Ahhh not so fast. I'm straight, and of course as a straight male I on the surface have no issue with scantily clad women. However, that's not the point. The very defined difference between a man in spandex wrestling, and a woman in a bikini (or whatever you call the outfits) server two distinct purposes. One is made to be practical, the other is made to sell sexuality. Just because you are a wrestling Diva does not rule you out of being considered an intelligent person. Let's look at strippers. I've known a few (as plutonic friends), and can tell you from first hand knowledge that very few were stupid at all...but all knew how to use thier sexuality. Vince McMahon knows how to do the same. He does not sell the sexuality of Trople H, but he does (place sexy female wrestler name here)..That being said I never questioned thier skills at what they do..just the purpose.

So...time to sit and ponder your next blog entry

Michelle:

Just Me---

As a woman, I think Triple H has sex appeal, he obviously had enough of it because Vince's daughter Stephanie married him. Or did you think that was a storyline? And not all male wrestlers wear the briefs to the ring just as not all female wrestlers are scantily clad when going to the ring. Check out Beth Pheonix, Melina, Mickie James'outfits next time you watch Raw. Not all of them wear those type of outfits. We could go back and forth on this as you well know.

Bottom line is that sex sells no matter what format it is in, pick one. You being a man, which would you rather see, a woman dressed in a bikini or dressed like a nun? I don't see being a WWE diva as being a bad thing. And I am pondering on what to blog about next. And no matter what I choose to blog about you will still be around to comment, no doubt.

just me:

But I make you think atleast.

skeebo:

Michelle,

I think Just has you on this one..... Wrestling sucks just like the Cowboys so there! Glow Blows would make an awesome porn if you ask me. Just my male point of view..

Michelle:

Skeebo---- Stop thinking with the wrong head, bro...*LOL*

Just Me--- Uh, I have been using my grey matter way before you came along. I don't need you to help me think, I can do that on my own, tyvm..*LOL*.. But you are fun to debate with.

angel:

triple H is too sexy, so big.... i envy stephanie. those bodies are to die for. Batista, Bobby Lashley (where he gone to?), John Cena, though he doesnt wear trunks - guess he's shy. Jeff Hardy and his look with the rainbow hair and how it fans out when he does that swanton dive of his. Yum yum
the divas are alright. kelly kelly is a joke though. she should do cheerleading or stripping or something. she's so frail. put her in the ring with Beth Phoenix, it doesnt bear thinking about. Beth would squash her like a bug. I guess Kelly's just there for eye candy. I always wish they match up the divas against the male wrestlers, but that will never happen will it, they might kill kelly kelly and the other frail strippers/wrestlers by accident
