I've chided gay bloggers for largely ignoring rising rates of HIV infection among gay men in the U.S. At current infection rates, close to half of today's 20 year olds will become HIV positive by the time they reach 50 (if they reach that age). This is a disaster unfolding before our eyes, but most of us would rather look away.
So hats off to Kevin Ivers at the Citizen Crain blog for his post today about the latest CDC stats. He gets it exactly right on the long-overdue need for a national HIV/AIDS strategy.
I hope other gay bloggers will stop averting their eyes.

If you want a gay blog that is not afraid to write about HIV, then check mine out, I've been public for over twenty years now, but started my blog about three years ago. www.acidrefluxweb.com
I hope there isn't a distinction between "gay bloggers" and "HIV bloggers" as I'm sure you will agree, one's status doesn't define their entire life.
Anyhow, I do agree with you though, this is something not brought up very much. Here in Canada we are launching a online anti-stigma campaign for the Province of Ontario, you might want to check it out. It will be about a month before it's up and running.
Peter, I'm just glad you're still alive. I admire your work and clarity of thought. Persevere.
Well, that's pretty terrible if those stats are accurate. What that suggests is that homosexuality as currently practised is not a sustainable lifestyle. I have no moral qualms with two men engaging in sex or completely fulfilling relationships but with the high levels of promiscuity and recreational drug use this should really come as no suprise.
